Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian spoke with Putin by phone on Wednesday afternoon, congratulating the Russian president on his birthday and wishing him long life and good health, as well as prosperity, growth and success for the Russian government and people.
During the conversation, Pezeshkian pointed to the positive and expanding trend in Tehran-Moscow relations and stressed the need to maintain and strengthen bilateral cooperation in various fields, describing continued cooperation as being in the common interests of the two countries.
Putin, for his part, thanked Pezeshkian for his birthday greetings and kind sentiments and wished peace, prosperity, security and success for the government and people of Iran.
The Russian president also referred to Tehran and Moscow’s cooperation under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty, stressing that the cooperation is continuing despite developments and events in the region.
Putin praised the Iranian people’s historic and heroic resistance in the face of attacks by their enemies, saying Iran’s courage has drawn the attention and admiration of many around the world.
Referring to efforts by some countries to mediate and help reduce tensions, Putin said Russia supports such diplomatic efforts and that its Iranian friends can be assured that Moscow is also prepared to play a role and provide assistance in this regard.
Putin finally stressed the importance of maintaining close communications and cooperation between Tehran and Moscow and conveyed his warm greetings and best wishes to Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei.
