Israeli Figures Reveal Scale of Losses from October 7, Wars on Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – An examination of 10 official Israeli sources and reports has revealed figures on casualties, injuries and economic damage sustained by the Zionist regime since October 7, 2023, including during its wars against Iran.

Politics

The Zionist government needs to portray the occupied territories as safe in order to continue its occupation and persuade the settlers to remain in the occupied lands. Even when it sustains blows, it needs to downplay them.

Accordingly, although in the first days after October 7, 2023 (Operation Al-Aqsa Storm), we saw the Israelis attempting to make the events of October 7 appear extremely horrific and large-scale in order to generate international support for their horrific genocide in Gaza, their efforts during the subsequent military confrontations with Lebanon and then Iran were all aimed at exaggerating the damage inflicted on Lebanon and Iran while making their own losses, both material and human, appear very small.

This became particularly pronounced during the 40-day war against Iran. Israeli military and security censorship became so severe that it even angered Western media outlets such as the BBC, which, in the broader picture, are entirely at Israel’s service. In several reports, BBC correspondents acknowledged that the Zionist government was not allowing them to enter any of the sites struck by Iranian missiles.

Now, however, three years after October 7, 2023, Tasnim’s Hebrew-language group has examined 10 official Israeli sources and reports and uncovered interesting statistics. These sources are as follows:

1. Israel’s National Insurance Institute (Bituah Leumi), report dated October 4, 2026.

2. Israel’s Ministry of Defense (Ministry of War): Number of Fallen Members of the Security Forces, report dated October 4, 2026.

3. Israel’s Ministry of Defense (Ministry of War), Rehabilitation Department: Three Years of War, report dated October 6, 2026.

4. Israel Defense Forces (IDF): War Dead and Wounded, page updated October 9, 2026.

5. INSS (Israel’s Institute for National Security Studies): Three Years of War Dashboard, broken down by fronts, including the Iran front.

6. Israel Tax Authority: Compensation Fund, report dated October 6, 2026.

7. Detailed Compensation Fund tables based on Tax Authority data, reports dated October 6–7, 2026.

8. Breakdown of direct and indirect damage and outstanding claims, report dated October 7, 2026.

9. Israel’s Ministry of Health: Hospital Status During Roaring Lion, report dated April 17, 2026.

10. Bank of Israel

A comprehensive examination and cross-checking of these reports yielded the following findings:

First: Since the beginning of October 7, 2023, and particularly when the two US-Zionist wars against Iran—the 12-day war and the 40-day war—are included, 87,286 people in the occupied territories have officially been registered as “victims of hostile actions!” This figure does not include members of the Zionist regime’s security forces or combat units!

Second: Of those listed in the first item, 43,004 people have applied to have their disability percentages determined! Of these, the applications of 40,404 people have been approved! The insurance agency explains, however, that some of the disabilities are psychological.

Third: Of those listed in the first item, 39,643 people have required hospitalization!

Fourth: According to figures published by the Israelis themselves, at least 2,347 Israelis, both military personnel and civilians, have been definitively killed since October 7, including in the two wars with Iran. However, this figure does not correspond with the number of people affected and wounded, and the actual number is higher. We will address this issue soon in a separate report.

Fifth: On October 6, 2026, Israel’s Ministry of War put the number of military and security personnel wounded at 30,000. According to official figures and Israeli admissions, among these 30,000 people, 106 have undergone amputations, 249 have suffered complex brain injuries, and 63 fall into the highest disability category, namely, more than 100 percent. This is despite the fact that the Zionist military had previously put the number of wounded at just 6,424 in a reduced figure!

Sixth: According to the Israel Tax Authority, which has released updated figures from the Compensation Fund, 168,000 claims have been filed for direct damage to buildings, vehicles, property and infrastructure. In addition, around one million claims have been filed for indirect economic damage to businesses! Meanwhile, 40,600 indirect-damage claims remain unresolved, most of them related to the 12-day war.

Seventh: Official reports put the damage inflicted on Israel at $12.5 billion.

Although the statistics and figures contained in these reports are highly significant, a deeper examination of several issues makes them even more noteworthy. We will point to some of them below:

1. The filing of 168,000 direct-damage insurance claims in the occupied territories, a large proportion of which relates to the 12-day and 40-day wars against Iran, shows just how strict the regime’s military and security censorship was during these wars! The images released, particularly during the 40-day war, were extremely limited. At the time, various reports emerged that the regime’s police and security apparatus was dealing very harshly with anyone who took photographs or videos of impact sites.

However, the publication of figures showing 168,000 claims indicates that the number of missile impacts was far higher than Israel had claimed and that Iranian missiles effectively tore up numerous locations across the occupied territories.

2. The official report of 30,000 military and security personnel wounded is highly significant. The regime claims that only 70 military personnel were killed during the two wars against Iran. However, if a reasonable ratio of wounded to dead and killed personnel is taken into account, the number of Israeli military fatalities is far higher than 70. We will address this issue in another report.

3. The fact that more than 87,000 people in the occupied territories have sustained significant injuries, a large proportion of them during the 12-day and 40-day wars against Iran, poses a very serious danger to the regime. Insecurity is a major Achilles’ heel of this illegitimate regime, and these figures indicate that 1 percent of the residents of the occupied territories have been directly affected by the war!
