Saree said the operation targeted strategic sites deep inside Saudi territory using ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and precision drones.
The targets included Aramco facilities in Dhahran in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province, King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and an Aramco refinery in the Saudi capital, according to the statement.
Yemen’s armed forces said the strikes hit their intended targets, causing damage and fires.
The military said the operation was a response to an escalation in Saudi attacks on Yemen, adding that Saudi Arabia had carried out 2,281 air and missile strikes in recent weeks and committed dozens of crimes.
According to the statement, the operation was part of a deterrence campaign and followed previous warnings issued by Yemen’s armed forces.
The military also warned that operations targeting sites deep inside Saudi Arabia would continue in the coming days, saying Saudi airports and oil facilities would remain potential targets and warning Riyadh of serious consequences.
In a further warning, Yemen’s armed forces urged international airlines, civilians and airport employees to leave the targeted airports immediately, arguing that the facilities had become legitimate targets.
The statement concluded by reaffirming Yemen’s commitment to the principle of “blockade for blockade” and “escalation for escalation,” adding that forces aligned with Saudi Arabia would also be targeted until the attacks on Yemen ceased and the blockade was lifted.
