Yemen Releases Footage Showing Saudi Helicopter Shot Down near Najran (+Video)

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Yemen’s War Media Unit said a domestically manufactured surface-to-air missile brought down a Saudi AH-6i attack helicopter near Najran, releasing video of the interception after the Saudi-led coalition attributed the aircraft’s crash to a technical fault.

The Saudi-led coalition’s spokesman, Major General Turki al-Maliki, had announced that a military helicopter crashed in the Najran region, killing all those on board, and attributed the incident to a technical fault.

However, Yemen’s War Media Unit, known as Al-Alam al-Harbi, subsequently announced the release of footage showing the helicopter’s interception at noon Tehran time.

.

According to the Yemeni unit, the video shows the Saudi AH-6i being targeted and brought down by a domestically manufactured surface-to-air missile while carrying out hostile activities near Najran.

Najran has been subject to fighting in recent weeks as fighting between the Saudi coalition and the Yemeni military escalated.

The footage was presented as evidence contradicting the Saudi-led coalition’s explanation that the helicopter had crashed because of a technical malfunction.
