In response to a question regarding Iran’s latest reply to the US, Araqchi said on Wednesday, “Our response is clear. We have presented our proposal to the US. If they are sincere about advancing negotiations and ensuring the Strait of Hormuz remains open, they must meet our conditions so that everything can be set right.”
He further emphasized, “It is abundantly clear that we will not give in (to the US pressure).”
His remarks came after Asim Munir, the Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan, visited Tehran and held meetings and consultations with senior officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
During these discussions, the two sides addressed bilateral relations, regional developments, and Pakistan’s potential role as a mediator between Iran and the United States.
Earlier, the secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) underlined the need for the United States to take steps to build trust before any talks.
In a short message on his official account on X on Tuesday, Major General Mohsen Rezaei wrote that there will be no negotiations with the US until Washington takes steps to build trust.
