Iran Ready to Give Diplomacy Another Chance If US Shows Sincerity: Araqchi

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said Iran is prepared to give diplomacy another chance if the US demonstrates a sincere willingness to build trust and reach a just solution, warning that another US military action would lead to an even greater strategic failure.

In a post on his X account, Araqchi stressed that Tehran remains open to a diplomatic solution but would not accept further aggression in place of genuine negotiations.

“Iran is prepared to give diplomacy another chance if we see strong evidence of a sincere desire by US to build trust & reach a just solution,” he wrote.

“But if US chooses war over diplomacy, it'll certainly result in an even greater strategic failure,” Araqchi warned.

He also attached a link to his latest opinion article published in the Financial Times, in which he elaborated on Iran’s position on the conflict, the prospects for negotiations, and the consequences of continued US military threats.

In his op-ed published on Wednesday, Araqchi reiterated Iran’s readiness to pursue a dignified and lasting diplomatic settlement while emphasizing the country’s determination to defend its sovereignty and independence.

He argued that Washington has undermined trust through repeated military actions during periods of negotiations and has shown little willingness to pursue a meaningful understanding despite Iran’s proposed seven-day plan, conveyed through intermediaries, to end the conflict and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

The Iranian foreign minister also cited the economic costs of the conflict for American households, arguing that the US administration has underestimated the consequences of its military campaign.

Araqchi maintained that Iran’s strategic position along the Strait of Hormuz gives it significant leverage over international maritime traffic and said Tehran would continue to uphold its historic role in the waterway.

Araqchi has also made it clear that while Iran remains open to diplomacy, any renewed US resort to military force would bring a greater strategic defeat for Washington.
