Pezeshkian Urges Islamic Unity, Cooperation

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian called on Muslim nations to strengthen unity, deepen regional cooperation and coordinate their positions to address security challenges, saying their collective capabilities could lay the groundwork for justice, development and lasting stability.

Speaking at a meeting in Tehran on Monday with Saudi Defense Minister Khalid bin Salman, Pakistan’s Army Chief Asim Munir and Turkey’s intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalin, Pezeshkian said Iran is ready to support any initiative aimed at promoting solidarity, security and development among Islamic nations.

He stressed the need to prioritize common interests and shared religious and cultural bonds to resolve differences and prevent external threats from destabilizing the region.

Pezeshkian condemned Israeli atrocities in Gaza, Lebanon and elsewhere in the region, saying the aggression has also targeted Iran, killing senior officials, military commanders, scientists and schoolchildren. He called for coordinated action by Muslim countries to counter aggression and insecurity.

The president emphasized that regional agreements should be translated into practical steps, including improving transport connectivity, facilitating cross-border exchanges and expanding cooperation among universities, scientific institutions and businesses.

He said stronger economic, cultural and scientific ties would improve public welfare, bolster collective security and help address the conditions that fuel terrorism and instability.

Pezeshkian also reiterated that Iran does not seek nuclear weapons and intends to pursue its nuclear activities within the framework of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of nuclear weapons (NPT). He stressed that Iran’s right to peaceful nuclear technology must be respected under international law.

Criticizing attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities while calls for negotiations continue, he described such actions as contradictory and detrimental to trust.

He further urged Islamic countries to oppose policies that deepen divisions and weaken regional states, saying closer economic cooperation could help them overcome domestic challenges and withstand external pressure.

Reaffirming Iran’s commitment to cooperation with Muslim nations on the basis of mutual interests, respect for national rights and shared religious ties, Pezeshkian expressed hope that collective efforts would help halt Israeli aggression against Palestinians and other affected populations and pave the way for lasting peace, security and justice across the region.
