No Safety for Violating Vessels in Strait of Hormuz: Top Iranian General

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Ali Abdollahi warned that any vessel violating Iran’s designated transit arrangements in the Strait of Hormuz would face serious security risks and potential severe damage.

In remarks made on Monday, Major General Abdollahi said the naval and ground forces of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) maintain complete control and comprehensive surveillance over the Persian Gulf coastlines, islands and the Strait of Hormuz, adding that all movements in the area are subject to strict monitoring.

Contrary to US leaders’ propaganda and media claims that the Strait of Hormuz remains open and free, the strategic waterway is “completely closed” and managed under the control and supervision of the powerful IRGC Navy, he stated.

The senior commander added that the Army’s naval and ground forces, while maintaining high levels of readiness and morale, exercise full surveillance and control over the open waters of the Sea of Oman and its coastlines. He said the military forces monitor all enemy movements in the region and do not allow violating vessels to transit.

Major General Abdollahi stressed that the entire Persian Gulf region and its islands, the Sea of Oman and its coastlines, as well as the eastern and western approaches to the Strait of Hormuz, are firmly under the control of the highly capable Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

He reiterated that, with the Strait of Hormuz closed, no vessel would be permitted to navigate the strategic waterway outside Iran’s designated arrangements.

“Any violating vessel that seeks, for any reason, to transit outside the designated route and Iranian arrangements will have its security endangered and will suffer serious damage,” Major General Abdollahi warned.

He further stated that Iran’s Armed Forces are now considerably better prepared than before, maintaining a powerful and authoritative presence in the Persian Gulf, its islands, the Strait of Hormuz and the coastlines of the Sea of Oman, equipped with newer and more advanced weapons and equipment.

The commander emphasized that the forces would confront any hostile provocation or aggression with greater intensity than in the past.
