Another Advanced MQ-1 Drone of US Military Downed by IRGC

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) destroyed an American MQ-1 drone over the skies of the Strait of Hormuz.

In a statement, the IRGC Public Relations Department announced that, a few hours ago, an advanced MQ-1 drone was intercepted and destroyed in the skies east of the Strait of Hormuz, off the coast of Sirik.

The operation was carried out by the IRGC’s modern aerospace defense system, under the control of the country’s integrated Air Defense Network.

The shooting down of the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) marks the latest in a series of similar interceptions over the Strait of Hormuz in recent weeks.

Earlier this month, the IRGC said its air defense forces intercepted and shot down an American MQ-9 Reaper long-endurance drone over the Strait of Hormuz.

Last month, the Iranian Army said its air defense had shot down a US MQ-1 drone over the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

The Army said its air defense forces detected, tracked and targeted the drone in southeastern Iran before striking and destroying it.
