President Rouhani made the remarks in a gathering attended by senior officials of the ICHHTO in Tehran on the occasion of Cultural Heritage Week.

The Iranian President emphasized that foreign tourists should be treated with respect and Iranian-Islamic hospitality.

He also said that the proper treatment of foreign visitors is much more important than the attractions of archeological sites.

The ICHHTO should play its role in forming the shape of the Resistance Economy, Rouhani said, adding that tourism industry helps create jobs and boosts economic growth.

He called for more active presence of private sector in the field of tourism and handicrafts, voicing Iran’s readiness to provide support for the private sector.

Rouhani also underlined the necessity to boost cooperation with the neighboring countries on tourism, particularly health tourism.
