Speaking to reporters upon his arrival in Tehran on Tuesday evening after a landmark visit to neighboring Turkey, President Rouhani said one of the topics in a session of Iran-Turkey Strategic High Cooperation Council in Ankara was how to export more energy to Turkey.

“There were discussions in the High Council meeting on a formula for the increase in gas exports to Turkey, its timetable and the price,” Rouhani explained.

He said the Iranian oil ministers also discussed the plan in details with his Turkish counterpart.

President Rouhani expressed the hope that a final decision on the matter would be made in the coming weeks after reaching a conclusion.

During the Iranian president’s visit to Turkey, the two countries sealed 10 agreements in diverse fields.

Rouhani was the first Iranian head of state to visit Turkey in 18 years. Several cabinet members, including the ministers of Foreign Affairs, Road and Urban Development, Oil, Communication and Information Technology, Interior, Culture and Islamic Guidance and Economy accompany President Rouhani in his two-day visit to Turkey.
