Iran’s Parliament Speaker to Visit Ecuador, Nicaragua

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani plans to pay visits to two Latin American countries in the coming months, a lawmaker said Wednesday.

Head of the Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Borujerdi told reporters on Wednesday that Larijani will travel to Ecuador and Nicaragua at the invitation of his counterparts in the two countries.

Borujerdi, who has just returned from an official trip to Ecuador and Nicaragua, described relations with Latin American countries as strategic for Iran.

He headed a parliamentary delegation on a four-day visit to a few Latin American states earlier this month.

In recent years, Iran has been seeking to enhance its relations and partnership with Latin American countries within the framework of international organizations such as the Non-Aligned Movement.

Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani also said the Islamic Republic is determined to improve close relations with Latin American countries in all fields.
