The visit took place on Tuesday on the eve of the anniversary of victory of the Islamic Revolution, marking its 47th year.
Major General Hatami, accompanied by a group of senior Army commanders, attended a joint session with Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and exchanged views on the concerted efforts of the military field and diplomacy in defending Iran’s foundations and safeguarding the country’s sovereignty and national security.
Araqchi welcomed the presence of top brass of the Army at the Foreign Ministry and expressed appreciation for the sacrifices and dedication of the Armed Forces in defending Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
He described the coordination and alignment between diplomacy and the military field in protecting national security as a divine blessing born of a sense of national responsibility and a guarantor of the country’s victory against all plots and conspiracies.
Araqchi also referred to the Foreign Ministry’s approach to advancing Iran’s foreign policy objectives with strength in various arenas, including nuclear negotiations, and briefed the Army commander and his accompanying delegation on the issues discussed during the Muscat meeting on February 6.
For his part, Major General Hatami praised the Foreign Ministry for pursuing Iran’s foreign policy goals with authority, stressing the firm support of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran for the Foreign Ministry’s efforts and initiatives to secure the country’s national interests within the approved frameworks and guidelines of the system.
He said preserving independence, national dignity, and territorial integrity — embodied and manifested in the Islamic Republic system — requires the continuation of comprehensive coordination and cooperation among all pillars of the system, including the defense and diplomatic spheres, adding that this would be realized in the best possible manner through reliance on God and with the enduring support and solidarity of the great Iranian nation.
During the meeting, the foreign minister and his deputies were also briefed on the latest developments and the offensive and defensive preparedness of Iran’s Armed Forces to defend the country against any form of foreign adventurism or hostile actions.
