In a message posted on his X account on June 17, Qalibaf said Iran’s commitment to win-win cooperation with China is unwavering and emphasized that Tehran seeks to transform the strategic understandings reached under the framework of the Global Development Initiative (GDI) into concrete and practical outcomes.
“Iran’s commitment to win-win cooperation underpinned by comprehensive strategic partnership with China is resolute,” he said.
“In my meeting with the Iran Chamber of Commerce, I emphasized: We are determined to translate our strategic consensus under the GDI into pragmatic outcomes,” Qalibaf stated.
Qalibaf, who has been appointed as Iran’s special representative for China affairs, held a meeting with members of the Iran Chamber of Commerce in line with efforts to strengthen sustainable economic cooperation between Tehran and Beijing. The gathering came after a separate coordination session held two weeks earlier between Iran’s economic ministers and the special representative for China affairs.
The meeting marked Qalibaf’s second dedicated session focused on expanding Iran-China cooperation and was attended by a broad range of Iranian economic stakeholders. Participants presented proposals, concerns, criticisms, and recommendations concerning the implementation of bilateral cooperation mechanisms.
Discussions centered on ways to establish and expand sustainable economic engagement, move bilateral relations toward measurable and practical outcomes, and strengthen Iran’s participation in regional connectivity and development initiatives, including the Belt and Road framework.
Iranian officials have repeatedly described economic cooperation with China as a strategic priority and emphasized translating political consensus into implementation mechanisms capable of delivering long-term trade, investment, infrastructure, and development gains for both countries.
