The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps said in a statement on Saturday that the US has formally resumed a war it had never truly ended, noting that Washington did so while negotiations were underway and under the mistaken assumption that Iran had been weakened.
According to the statement, after several days of fighting and heavy retaliatory blows from Iran's Armed Forces, the US realized that Iran's military had become considerably stronger since the beginning of the war on February 28. Rather than acknowledging defeat and admitting another strategic miscalculation, the IRGC said, Washington shifted its approach by avoiding direct confrontation and resorting to war crimes.
The statement lashed out at the US military for attempting to conceal its battlefield failures by launching destructive attacks on civilian infrastructure, including hospitals, bridges, railways, airports, ports, communications centers and other facilities, while killing civilians in an effort to preserve its position through "crime and dishonor" instead of military engagement.
The IRGC further stated that, in the absence of any international body capable of preventing US military atrocities, Iran had no option but to act in accordance with its religious duty. It warned that countries hosting US forces and allowing their territory to be used for attacks against Iran should expect proportional responses and activate their civil defense systems to protect civilians by keeping them away from potential military targets.
The statement added that, despite this warning, Iran has chosen to limit its response on the previous night to military objectives in order to give the US an opportunity to change its "dishonorable approach."
The IRGC said that during the 18th wave of Operation Nasr-2, its Ground Force targeted a concentration point for US troops at their ground forces support center in Camp Arifjan, killing a number of American personnel. Simultaneously, it said, Iranian drones struck and destroyed the radar system at the US Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait.
According to the statement, the IRGC Ground Force also destroyed a weapons maintenance facility and a drone hangar, adding that its retaliatory operations would continue.
