Retaliatory Strike Sets US Base in Kuwait Ablaze: IRGC

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) carried out a retaliatory strike against a US military base in Kuwait in response to fatal American attacks on Iranian civilians, saying the operation targeted key missile defense assets and ignited a massive fire at the facility.

The IRGC announced in a statement on Friday that its Aerospace Force has launched the 12th wave of Operation Nasr-2 in retaliation for recent US war crimes against Iranian civilians.

According to the statement, the operation was dedicated to the personnel of the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways (RAJA), who were martyred in US attacks on civilian infrastructure.

The IRGC said that the US had resumed military aggression during negotiations after violating its commitments, and, having failed to achieve its objectives against Iran's Armed Forces, turned to attacks on civilian targets, including telecommunications and railroad workers as well as passing civilian vehicles, resulting in civilian casualties.

It said the retaliatory operation targeted a missile defense detection and surveillance radar, several major US ammunition depots, two HIMARS surface-to-surface missile launchers, and a number of missiles stored for the system at the US base in Kuwait.

The statement said the strikes triggered a massive fire that engulfed the US military base.

The IRGC further asserted that continued US military actions in the region have led to a sharp decline in oil production and a complete halt to oil and gas exports through the Strait of Hormuz.

It added that Iran's retaliatory operations will continue as long as US acts of aggression persist.
