In a telephone conversation on Wednesday, the Iranian foreign minister and the top Pakistani general exchanged views on the latest developments in the region.

The call came amid continued efforts by Tehran and Islamabad to deepen strategic ties and coordinate on regional issues.

During his recent visit to Pakistan, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian called for stronger economic cooperation and greater unity among Muslim countries, while Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif voiced support for Iran’s defense capabilities and described bilateral relations as being at one of their strongest points.

Pezeshkian also stressed the need to translate the two countries’ close political ties into practical cooperation, while Sharif called for expanding bilateral trade through improved transit connectivity, banking cooperation and customs facilitation.
