Nafisi, deputy governor of Hormozgan, said search and rescue operations had begun to locate the missing fishermen targeted in a drone attack by the US.
Rescue teams and relevant authorities are conducting search operations in the area of the incident, while the latest information on the missing fishermen is being investigated, he added.
In a separate development, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said a US-made MQ-1 drone was intercepted and destroyed over the western skies of the Strait of Hormuz early Tuesday.
According to the statement, the drone was brought down by an advanced air defense system of the IRGC Aerospace Force operating under the country’s integrated air defense network.
