Israeli regime fighter jets, helicopters and artillery units carried out a series of attacks across southern Lebanon on Sunday, striking residential and commercial areas and intensifying violations of the ceasefire in the region.
In Nabatieh, Israeli military helicopters carried out two consecutive strikes on a shopping centre along the main road between Mayfadoun and Shoukin, according to Lebanon’s National News Agency and Al Mayadeen.
The second helicopter attack came less than 10 minutes after the first, marking the first reported use of Israeli combat helicopters in the daily attacks on southern Lebanon.
Israeli fighter jets also carried out three strikes targeting Nabatieh al-Fawqa and the outskirts of Kfar Tebnit, while the outskirts of Haris in the Bint Jbeil district were bombed.
Elsewhere, Israeli artillery shelled Wadi Zbqine early Sunday, while Israeli regime forces opened machine-gun fire toward Beit Yahoun.
The Zionist military also fired four tank shells at Haddatha in the Bint Jbeil district, with Lebanese reports saying Israeli troops moved toward the town centre and that a fire broke out in the area.
In the Tyre district, Israel’s military demolished several houses in al-Mansouri, according to Lebanon’s official National News Agency.
The Israeli military said its air attacks targeted sites it claimed were being used by Hezbollah to launch drones at Israeli forces occupying Lebanese territory, following what it described as an “explosive drone” attack.
The latest strikes come despite a November 2024 ceasefire brokered by the United States and France, which Lebanon and international organizations have repeatedly called on Israeli regime to respect.
Lebanese authorities have described Israel’s continued attacks as repeated violations of the country’s sovereignty and a threat to regional peace and security, while Israeli forces continue to occupy parts of southern Lebanon.
