In a meeting on the sidelines of the annual session of Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Baghdad on Saturday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan discussed bilateral relations and the latest regional developments, particularly the situation in Palestine and the continued genocide of Palestinians.
Referring to the meeting’s theme of “Dialogue and Solidarity,” Araqchi stressed the need for Islamic countries to give priority to the Palestinian issue and take practical steps to stop the Israeli regime’s crimes against Palestinians and help realize their right to self-determination.
The two sides also underscored the importance of strengthening cooperation and coordination among Muslim countries.
Araqchi and Fidan further discussed the ways to use the OIC’s capabilities to address challenges facing the Islamic world, including Islamophobia.
They also reviewed the latest developments in the Persian Gulf region and the Strait of Hormuz, with Araqchi briefing Fidan on the ongoing situation.
