“The Islamic Republic of Iran’s policy is (based on) strengthening peace and stability in the region and in this process, in addition to boosting cooperation and consultations with neighboring countries as its first priority, Iran also cooperates and consults with friendly countries in the region and the world,” Afkham said during a meeting with Head of Romania-Iran Parliamentary Friendship Group Surin Stefan Rushka Stansko in Tehran on Wednesday.
Elsewhere in her remarks, Afkham expressed the hope that the visit to Iran by the Romanian parliamentary delegation would help promote relations between the two countries in all spheres.
During the meeting, the Romanian senator voiced satisfaction over his trip to Iran, stressing that Tehran and Bucharest have great potential to promote trade ties.
He went to say that the two countries can open a new chapter in bilateral relations in the area of economy through supporting private sectors and chambers of commerce.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Romanian delegation met with Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani and discussed various issues including parliamentary ties.
During the meeting, Larijani said, “Close dialogue between the two countries’ parliaments can enormously help in identifying the potential for promotion of relations and removing problems and obstacles in the way of expansion of mutual cooperation.”
The Romanian MP, for his part, described Iran as an important and influential country in the region and emphasized that his country is keen to promote bilateral relations with Tehran in all spheres.
