TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian defense ministry delivered its first domestically-made Bell-412 chopper to the country's Red Crescent Society in a ceremony held in the Iranian capital on Monday.

The society received the chopper in a ceremony attended by Vice-President for Science and Technology Affairs Sorena Sattari, Science Minister Mohammad Farhadi, and Managing Director of Iran Aviation Industries Organization (IAIO) Manouchehr Manteqi.

The chopper is made by Iran Helicopter Support and Renewal Company (IHSRC) and complies with all international and national aviation standards, Manteqi explained during the ceremony.

He went on to say that the twin-engine Bell-412 chopper was made under the supervision of the IAIO.

412-class choppers have two engines with four blades, and enjoy an auto-pilot system and can carry 14 crew and passengers.

Earlier last month, IHSRC Managing Director Mohammad Ali Ahmadabadi had said that the company will manufacture the country’s first fully indigenous helicopter in near future.

Iran has made great achievements in aviation industry in recent years. As well as attaining self-sufficiency in the overhaul and maintenance of helicopters inside the country, Iran has been successful in manufacturing different types of choppers.
