Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) are in talks to hammer out a final agreement to end more than a decade of impasse over Tehran’s civilian nuclear energy program.

In the second day of the new round of talks, Iran's negotiating team led by Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and the US team led by Secretary of State John Kerry held bilateral talks.

The meeting was also attended by Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Chief Ali Akbar Salehi, US Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz, and Deputy Secretary General for the European Union's External Action Service Helga Schmid

Earlier on Monday, Iranian and American teams had held a meeting with Zarif and Kerry in attendance.

Iran’s top negotiator Zarif announced on Monday that the new round of nuclear talks in Switzerland has provided a good opportunity for him and his US counterpart to discuss ways on a speedy removal of sanctions imposed on Tehran over its peaceful nuclear program.

Iran’s negotiating team also consists deputy foreign ministers, Abbas Araqchi and Majid Takht Ravanchi, and special aide to Iran's president Hossein Fereidoun.

A plenary session involving Iran and the six powers will be held on March 5.
