It was Zob Ahan’s first victory after three weeks and Esteghlal’s first defeat after three weeks.
Ehsan Pahlavan and Morteza Tabrizi scored respectively in the 63rd and 85th minutes.
“We showed a good performance in the first half but our strikers missed their chances. The two individual mistakes we made today,” Esteghlal coach Parviz Mazloomi said.
Elsewhere, Tractor Sazi of Tabriz drew 1-1 with Rah Ahan, Esteghlal Khuzestan beat Foolad 2-0 in Ahvaz derby and Saipa defeated Padideh of Mashhad 2-1.
