Iran Smashes Cambodia at World Cup Qualifier

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran national football team notched a 14-0 victory over Cambodia in Group C of the Qatar 2022 World Cup Asian qualifiers on Thursday.

The win was Iran’s second in a row in Group C following a 2-0 win over Hong Kong in its opening game last month and ensures the Marc Wilmots-coached side goes into Tuesday’s meeting with Bahrain in Manama with a perfect record.

Ahmad Nourollahi took the lead in the fifth minute in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium and Sardar Azmoun made it 2-0 six minutes later. Hossein Kananizadegan extended the lead in the 18th minute and Mehdi Taremi was on target in the 22nd minute.

Sardar Azmoun scored two more goals in the 35th and 44th minutes and Karim Ansarifaed registered his name on the scoreboard five minutes before the break.

Ansarifard opened the scoring for Iran in the second half in the 49th minute.

Taremi was on target for the second time in the 55th minute.

Ansarifard scored his third goal just after the hour mark and Mohammad Mohebbi scored twice in the 65th and 67th minutes.

Milad Mohammadi was on target in the 85th minute and Ansarifard scored his fourth goal in the 88th minute.
