The 55-year-old coach has penned a one-year deal with Persepolis.
Garrido has most recently worked as head coach of the Algerian team USM Alger.
“First of all, I am so very grateful for journalist and reporters who came here to participate in the news conference. I am so happy to be named head coach of such a great club. I am aware that Persepolis has millions of fans,” Garrido said.
“Our main goal is to win the championship and I think we can do it regarding that we have good players. I would like to help my players improve their performance, that’s why I am here,” the Spaniard said.
Persepolis will compete at the 2024–25 AFC Champions League Elite. Garrido said that they are looking forward to winning the trophy.
“Persepolis is always hungry to win the trophy and the players should know about the club’s goal. We all will fight for our goal in the club since Persepolis is a great club. Not only the players and coaches but also everyone in the club should fight for success,” Garrido stated.
“Persepolis has good facilities and I visited our stadium (Shahid Kazemi) and I am satisfied with it. Persepolis is a historical club and I have to say once again I am happy to be here as head coach,” he concluded.
