Turkey Opposes Foreign Military Intervention in Iran, Calls for Internal Solutions

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan firmly stated that his country opposes any military intervention in Iran, emphasizing Iran’s responsibility to resolve its internal issues.

Addressing reporters during his media briefing in Istanbul, Fidan underscored that while Iran faces economic difficulties, these hardships cannot be mistaken for an ideological uprising against the Iranian establishment, according to Anadolu.

“What gets confused here is that the hardships people face due to economic and other difficulties can appear as an ideological uprising against the regime; in reality, this constitutes a grey area,” Fidan explained. He added that Iran’s large and dynamic population, coupled with its strong desire for participation in social life, creates challenges when opportunities are restricted.

Referencing the anti-Iran policies of US President Donald Trump, Fidan noted that Turkey hasn't observed a strong inclination towards deploying ground forces in the past. He emphasized that Iran’s problems should be resolved through diplomacy, either with mediators or direct talks. “Hopefully, the US and Iran will resolve this issue among themselves—either through mediators, other actors, or direct talks. We are closely monitoring the situation,” Fidan stated.

Furthermore, Fidan stressed Turkey's close connection to Iran, stating that developments concerning Iran are a matter of concern for Turkey. He advocated for Iran to address its global nuclear issues through diplomacy to eliminate structural problems contributing to economic difficulties, which would ultimately benefit both Iran and Ankara.

“It should resolve its issues on the global nuclear matter through diplomacy without missing any opportunity, so that certain structural problems causing economic difficulties can be eliminated,” Fidan emphasized.

Turkey will continue to monitor the situation and pursue diplomatic efforts for Iran, he said.
