Speaking after the conclusion of the second round of indirect talks, held at the Omani embassy in Geneva on Tuesday, Araqchi said the negotiations were conducted in a serious atmosphere and were more constructive compared to the earlier round.
He noted that consultations on technical aspects had begun a day earlier and that productive discussions were also held with Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
According to the foreign minister, various ideas were proposed and reviewed during the talks in an effort to move toward drafting a text. He said the two sides reached a general agreement on guiding principles and would from now on discuss those principles in order to enter the stage of writing the text.
Araqchi stressed that the path has just begun, adding that drafting the text will be more difficult and involve detailed work. He said better progress had been achieved compared to the previous round and described the path ahead as bright.
Asked whether a roadmap had been agreed upon, the foreign minister said there is no specific roadmap at this stage, but the path forward appears clearer and more promising. He also noted that the timing of the next round of talks has not yet been determined.
