Iran-Lebanon Ties Rooted in Deep Cultural Bonds, Not Just Politics: Pezeshkian

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Relations between Iran and Lebanon transcend political considerations and are anchored in longstanding cultural, historical, and emotional connections between their peoples, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said.

In comments on Tuesday at the credential ceremony of Lebanon’s newly appointed ambassador to Tehran, Ahmad Sweidan, Pezeshkian highlighted Lebanon’s prominent position in Iran’s regional and foreign policy, noting that the two nations have consistently stood by one another through both difficult and prosperous times.

The president said Iran closely monitors developments in Lebanon and genuinely hopes for enduring peace and stability for the Lebanese people.

He described the Israeli regime as a primary driver of instability in Lebanon and across the broader region, pointing to repeated acts of aggression and expansionist policies as threats to regional security. Pezeshkian reaffirmed that Iran’s stance on such actions remains firm and rooted in support for the rights of regional nations.

Emphasizing Tehran’s commitment to strengthening ties with Arab and Islamic countries—particularly Lebanon—he underlined the important role the new ambassador can play in deepening bilateral cooperation.

For his part, Sweidan conveyed the greetings of Lebanese leaders and characterized Iran–Lebanon relations as strong, resilient, and steadily advancing despite external pressures.
