Iran Cautions Neighbors Against Cooperation with Aggressors

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said reducing tensions in the region requires neighboring countries not to cooperate with those attacking Iran.

President Pezeshkian and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed recent regional developments in a telephone conversation on Monday amid the US and Israeli military aggression against Iran.

During the conversation, the Iranian president rejected allegations circulated by certain media outlets claiming that Iran had launched missile attacks on Turkey.

The Islamic Republic has always been ready to reduce tensions in the region, provided that the airspace, territory, and waters of neighboring countries are not used for attacks against the Iranian people, Pezeshkian emphasized, his official website reported.

Pezeshkian also thanked Turkey for its efforts to promote regional peace and for expressing condolences over the martyrdom of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei and civilians.

He then proposed forming a joint team to examine claims about alleged missile attacks in order to prevent hostile propaganda from affecting relations between the two countries.

Erdogan, for his part, expressed condolences on the loss of Iran’s Leader and civilians and wished success for Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Khamenei as Iran’s new Leader.

He said Turkey has no intention of confronting Iran, understands the difficult circumstances facing the country, and is ready to contribute as much as possible to reducing tensions in the region.

The Turkish president stressed that interference in Iran’s affairs is unacceptable and emphasized the need to reduce tensions, adding that more than ever, the doors of diplomacy must be opened.

The US and the Zionist regime launched a large-scale military campaign against Iran following the assassination of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, along with several senior military commanders and civilians on February 28.

The attacks have involved extensive aerial strikes on both military and civilian locations across Iran, causing significant casualties and widespread damage to infrastructure.

In response, the Iranian Armed Forces have carried out retaliatory operations, targeting American and Israeli positions in the occupied territories and at regional bases with waves of missiles and drones.
