In a statement released on Tuesday, Esmaeil Baqaei roundly condemned the Israeli regime’s aggressive attacks against Lebanon, including the savage strikes on residential and civilian areas in the south, the Bekaa region, and Dhahiye neighborhood of Beirut that have resulted in the martyrdom of over 800 people, injury of thousands, and displacement of hundreds of thousands of residents.
He slammed the bombardment of residential areas, massacre of people and medical personnel, and the destruction of Lebanon’s vital infrastructures as blatant violations of the principles of international regulations and the humanitarian international law and also as a clear example of war crime and crimes against humanity.
The Iranian spokesman stressed that the international community cannot remain silent on the Israeli atrocities.
The continued inaction of responsible international organizations on the recurrent violation of ceasefire and crimes committed by the Zionist regime, along with the US’ supports for and complicity in those atrocities, have encouraged the Zionist regime to intensify its crimes and acts of aggression, Baqaei deplored.
The spokesman also reaffirmed Iran’s support for Lebanon against the Israeli regime’s occupation and aggression, reminding the international community, specifically the UN Security Council, of its responsibility to fulfill its duty to prevent the Israeli violation of peace and to prosecute and punish the aggressors for crimes against people of Lebanon.
