Iran Urges Caspian States to Condemn US-Israeli Aggression

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi called on countries bordering the Caspian Sea to adopt a firm stance against the US-Israeli war of aggression, stressing the need for clear condemnation of attacks affecting coastal areas.

In a telephone conversation on Tuesday, Araqchi and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov discussed the latest regional developments as well as bilateral relations.

Araqchi briefed his Azeri counterpart on the crimes committed by the United States and the Israeli regime against Iran, including attacks on schools, universities, hospitals, historical and cultural sites, vital and production infrastructure, and residential areas in Iran.

He emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran, in line with its inherent right to self-defense and in accordance with international law, has been carrying out defensive measures against military bases and facilities of the aggressors stationed in regional countries.

Referring to the continued provocations by the aggressors, particularly the Israeli regime, aimed at expanding the scope of the war, Araqchi called for countries—especially those along the Caspian Sea—to take a clear and decisive position regarding the recent attacks on certain coastal areas of the Caspian Sea.

For his part, the Republic of Azerbaijan’s foreign minister expressed concern over the regional security situation and underscored the importance of diplomatic efforts to bring a swift end to the war and restore lasting stability and security to the region.

The two foreign ministers also exchanged views on a number of bilateral issues during the phone call.

The US and the Israeli regime launched a large-scale unprovoked military campaign against Iran following the assassination of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, along with several senior military commanders and civilians on February 28.

The attacks have involved extensive aerial strikes on both military and civilian locations across Iran, causing significant casualties and widespread damage to infrastructure.

In response, the Iranian Armed Forces have carried out retaliatory operations, targeting American and Israeli positions in the occupied territories and at regional bases with waves of missiles and drones.
