Pezeshkian Condemns Trump’s Threats as Potential War Crime

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - In a direct response to recent statements by his US counterpart, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian highlighted the dangers of threatening an entire nation and warned of the consequences of silence in the face of wrongdoing.

In a post on his X account on Friday, President Pezeshkian reacted sharply to Donald Trump’s rhetoric, framing it as not only morally unacceptable but potentially a serious violation of international law. He also drew on historical lessons to caution against ignoring such threats.

"Is threatening to return an entire nation to the Stone Age nothing but a widespread war crime? This was the question I asked my Finnish counterpart, who is a legal expert. History is full of those who paid a heavy price for remaining silent in the face of criminals," the Iranian president said.

The US and the Israeli regime launched a large-scale unprovoked military campaign against Iran following the assassination of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, along with several senior military commanders and civilians on February 28.

The attacks have involved extensive aerial strikes on both military and civilian locations across Iran, causing significant casualties and widespread damage to infrastructure.

In response, the Iranian Armed Forces have carried out retaliatory operations, targeting American and Israeli positions in the occupied territories and at regional bases with waves of missiles and drones.
