What Lies behind US-Israeli Media Game over Lebanon Ceasefire?

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A political analysis by Tasnim suggests that contradictory narratives surrounding a ceasefire in Lebanon are part of a coordinated US–Israeli media strategy, aimed at reshaping the perception of negotiations and obscuring the role of resistance pressure in pushing for a truce.

Politics

Tasnim’s war analysis group has noted that contradictory reports regarding a ceasefire in Lebanon have intensified since April 15, stressing that Iran’s firm pressure on the American side to enforce a ceasefire in Lebanon as one of the preconditions for continuing and advancing negotiations has been confirmed by both regional and Western sources and media outlets.

It was further revealed that, since Wednesday evening, the United States has come under Iranian pressure to compel the Israeli regime to implement a ceasefire in Lebanon.

However, the Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, announced last night that the war in Lebanon would continue. Israeli media also reported that although the intensity of attacks may be reduced, Israel is not currently willing to declare a ceasefire.

In parallel with these contradictions, a report emerged that, when placed within the broader context of developments over the past week, could shed light on the underlying dynamics.

The United States and Israel reportedly announced talks on a ceasefire with the Lebanese government. However, the BBC acknowledged that the Lebanese government was not aware of the developments announced the previous night.

The crux of the matter is that Washington and Tel Aviv are attempting in a deceptive move to frame a potential ceasefire as an agreement with the Lebanese government. This approach is intended to enforce a ceasefire under pressure, disconnect it from the resistance, and simultaneously serve a broader deceptive US-Israeli strategy of sowing internal division within Lebanon.
