Spokesman Refutes Arab League’s Claims Against Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry rejected the contents of a recent statement issued by the Arab League foreign ministers regarding Iran, urging the league to avoid positions influenced by unilateral and unconstructive views of certain member states.

In a statement on Thursday night, Esmaeil Baqaei dismissed the allegations contained in the statement issued following the meeting of foreign ministers of the Arab League, calling on the organization to shape its approaches independently of biased and non-constructive positions held by some of its members.

He emphasized Iran’s adherence to the principles of the United Nations Charter, including the prohibition of the use of force and respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states. In this regard, he stated that Iran’s defensive measures against the US military bases and facilities stationed in certain countries along the southern coast of the Persian Gulf were carried out in accordance with the inherent right of self-defense under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, and in response to military aggression by the US and the Israeli regime against Iran.

Referring to established principles of international law concerning non-interference and the obligation of states not to allow their territory to be used against other countries, Baqaei noted that those regional governments which, in any form including facilitation of access, provision of bases, or logistical or intelligence support, have placed their territory and facilities at the disposal of the US and Israeli military actions against Iran bear international responsibility for the consequences of such actions and must be held accountable.

He also rejected the accusations leveled against Iran, stressing that chronic instability and insecurity in West Asia are the result of the presence and military interventions of extra-regional actors, as well as the continuation of occupation and colonial policies aimed at the elimination of the Palestinian people. He warned that ignoring this reality would only perpetuate and intensify regional insecurity.

The spokesperson further reiterated Iran’s determination to strengthen trust and cooperation among regional countries, calling on them to recognize their legal and political responsibilities, avoid escalatory rhetoric, and pursue constructive engagement based on mutual respect.
