In a telephone conversation on Thursday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and his Swiss counterpart discussed bilateral relations and regional developments.
The Iranian foreign minister briefed Ignazio Cassis on regional developments following 40 days of US-Israeli military aggression against Iran and the repeated violations of the ceasefire by the aggressors since April 8.
Referring to the security and economic consequences of the imposed war by the United States and the Zionist regime on the region and the world, Araqchi said insecurity in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz stems directly from the military aggression against Iran.
He stressed that the international community must take this reality into account and hold the aggressors accountable for their blatant violation of the principles of the UN Charter and international law.
For his part, the Swiss foreign minister reaffirmed Switzerland’s principled position in support of diplomacy aimed at ending the war and establishing peace.
The Iranian and Swiss foreign ministers also discussed bilateral issues and emphasized the continuation of consultations in areas of mutual interest.
