Attacks on Cultural Sites Reflect Hostility toward Iran’ Identity: President

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – During a visit to damaged sections of the Sa’dabad Cultural and Historical Complex in Tehran, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian condemned attacks on cultural heritage as a violation of international norms and a hostile act against nations’ civilizational identity.

During his visit, President Pezeshkian reviewed the latest reports on the damage inflicted on the complex during the recent war imposed by the United States and the Israeli regime.

He stressed the importance of protecting Iran’s historical, cultural, and national heritage, saying that assaults on such sites go beyond physical destruction and target the identity and memory of a nation.

Officials also presented a report on the extent of the damage, particularly to the Jomhouri Building, which has hosted high-level meetings of senior foreign dignitaries, cooperation agreement signings, joint sessions of political and economic delegations, and press conferences with presidents and other foreign officials.

Emphasizing the need to preserve and restore the country’s historical, cultural, and diplomatic assets, the president ordered the immediate launch of restoration, reconstruction, and repair operations.

Pezeshkian also called for the documentation, registration, and legal pursuit of the damage to Iran’s cultural and historical sites through international forums and mechanisms.
