Baqaei made the remarks during a meeting on Tuesday with the head of the Foundation for the Preservation and Publication of the Values of the Sacred Defense and Resistance as well as a group of commanders and veterans of the Sacred Defense --the war Iraq imposed on Iran in the 1980s.
The Foreign Ministry spokesman stressed that preserving and promoting the values of the Sacred Defense is not merely a commendable task but a strategic necessity, as safeguarding and spreading the culture of resistance and martyrdom constitutes an essential element of deterrence and guarantees the endurance and stability of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Referring to the heroic struggle of the Iranian people against American and Zionist enemies during two wars of aggression in the past year, Baqaei described freedom and the pursuit of dignity as two authentic Iranian-Islamic values that have served as the secret behind the nation’s steadfastness and resilience in the face of foreign military aggression.
He stated that those values were clearly manifested in practice during the two imposed wars of the past year.
