In a statement issued on Thursday following recent developments in Lebanon, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps said that one of Iran's primary conditions for accepting a ceasefire in the regional war had been the establishment of a ceasefire on all fronts, including Lebanon.
The statement said the enemy must immediately stop its attacks on the Lebanese people, withdraw from occupied Lebanese territories to behind internationally recognized borders, and recognize Lebanon's territorial integrity.
Describing Lebanon as the land of “honor and dignity,” the IRGC said the Arab country remains under the “savage assault” of the Zionist regime.
It added that condemnations and expressions of disgust by international organizations, countries, and nations have had no impact on the conduct of the rulers in Tel Aviv, while US intervention under the pretext of establishing peace has produced nothing but further crimes and genocide.
The statement further said that the Zionist regime’s army has sought to compensate for its setbacks on the battlefield through the killing of civilians and the destruction of homes, hospitals, and schools. It argued that despite extensive support from the US and European governments throughout its existence, the Israeli regime has failed to win the hearts of the people even in a single occupied village and has continuously ruled over “burned lands.”
The IRGC also stressed that the peoples of the region will not abandon Lebanon and said the Lebanese nation will not allow the Israeli regime to achieve through an imposed agreement, backed by the US, what it has failed to accomplish through war.
According to the statement, the Lebanese people are the pride of the Islamic Ummah and a symbol of the honor of the region's nations. The IRGC emphasized that support for Lebanon will continue and maintained that no lasting peace and stability can be established in the region without the Zionist regime’s withdrawal from occupied Lebanese territories.
