The deputy governor of Khuzestan for security and law enforcement affairs said the Karoun Petrochemical Plant in Mahshahr was targeted in an aerial attack by the Zionist enemy, causing damage to sections of the facility.
The attack comes after five petrochemical production lines in Mahshahr were damaged by enemy projectiles during the 40-day imposed war of aggression launched by the United States and the Israeli regime against Iran.
In a statement, the Mahshahr Petrochemical Special Economic Zone Organization announced that, based on a decision by the senior command of civil defense and the crisis management authority of the petrochemical zone, an emergency evacuation of all day-shift personnel from the Petrochemical Special Economic Zone had been ordered.
The statement added that operational personnel in the zone had been instructed to continue their activities as usual.
In a second statement, the Public Relations Office of the Mahshahr Petrochemical Special Economic Zone Organization said that at approximately 7:30 am on Monday, two projectiles struck the Karoun Petrochemical Company following an attack by the American-Zionist enemy.
Fortunately, the incident caused no casualties, while the extent of the damage and any additional losses remains under assessment, the statement said.
