Casualties Mount As Israeli Far-Right Minister Calls for Settlement ‘Conquest’ of Gaza

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A single day of Israeli violence exposed the deepening fractures in the Gaza ceasefire, with five Palestinians killed in Israeli attacks and a key far-right minister publicly agitating for new settlements.

Five Palestinians, including a child, were killed on Monday in separate Israeli attacks on central and southern Gaza, as Zionist forces continued military operations despite the ceasefire agreement.

According to Al Mayadeen’s correspondent, three Palestinians, including a child, were killed in an Israeli strike on al-Baraka Street in Deir al-Balah.

Later, two more Palestinians were killed and several others wounded when an Israeli airstrike targeted a tent sheltering forcibly displaced civilians in the al-Mawasi area west of Khan Yunis, the Palestine Chronicle reported.

The Gaza Health Ministry said hospitals received four bodies and eight wounded over the previous 24 hours, adding that many victims remain trapped beneath rubble or in inaccessible areas due to ongoing attacks.

Since the ceasefire took effect on October 11, the ministry said 1,045 Palestinians have been killed and 3,380 wounded, while the overall death toll since October 7, 2023, has risen to 73,058 killed and 173,488 injured.

The Government Media Office in Gaza also reported 3,465 Israeli ceasefire violations since the truce began, including the detention of 113 Palestinians.

Meanwhile, the Israeli regime’s finance minister, Bezalel Smotrich, called on Monday for the immediate establishment of three new illegal Israeli settlements in northern Gaza, urging prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu to approve the plan without delay.

Following a meeting with Sderot mayor Alon Davidi, Smotrich said the settlement division of the Israeli war ministry was prepared to begin construction immediately.
