Sheikh Ali al-Khatib, who traveled to Tehran at the head of a delegation to attend the farewell ceremonies for the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, conveyed the greetings and condolences of Lebanon’s religious scholars and people to the Leader, the Iranian president, the government, and the nation, at a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi in Tehran.
He also offered condolences over the martyrdom of Ayatollah Khamenei, members of his family, and a number of Iranian commanders, officials, and civilians martyred in terrorist attacks by the US and the Zionist regime. He said the massive funeral ceremonies reflected the unity and solidarity of the Iranian people in defending their country and the Islamic Republic.
The Lebanese cleric praised the resilience of the Iranian nation, the Armed Forces’ response to the US-Israeli aggression, and the resolve shown by Iran’s negotiators in the diplomatic arena. He also commended Iran’s principled stance in negotiations with the US, particularly its continued support for Lebanon, its commitment to the country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, and its efforts to end the war and secure the withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from Lebanese territory.
Al-Khatib said Iran’s resistance to the US-Israeli military aggression had further strengthened the Islamic Republic and become a source of pride for its allies, the peoples of the region, and supporters of freedom around the world.
Araqchi, for his part, thanked the Lebanese Shiite Supreme Islamic Council’s delegation for attending the farewell ceremonies for the martyred Leader and for conveying messages of sympathy from Lebanon’s religious scholars and people.
The Iranian foreign minister praised the steadfastness of the Lebanese people in the face of Israeli aggression and reaffirmed Iran’s continued support for Lebanon, its territorial integrity, and its national sovereignty. He also stressed Tehran’s commitment to pursuing an end to Israeli aggression and occupation in Lebanon.
