Israeli Regime Forces Kill Palestinians in New Gaza Attacks

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Israeli regime forces have killed at least five Palestinians and injured 18 others in new attacks on the Gaza Strip over the past 48 hours, while Israeli gunfire caused an unconfirmed number of injuries near Rafah, ambulance and emergency services told Al Jazeera.

The Gaza Health Ministry said the latest attacks bring the number of Palestinians killed by Israel since the US-brokered “ceasefire” took effect last October to at least 1,265, with 4,198 others injured.

Since October 2023, the Israeli regime’s genocidal war on Gaza has killed at least 73,399 Palestinians and injured 174,310, according to the ministry.

Meanwhile, Israeli far-right national security minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has called for the Israeli regime to “kill 30 or 40” people in Gaza every night, saying its forces should go beyond targeting “those who pose a danger … at that particular moment”.

In his remarks, Ben-Gvir called for the killing of Palestinians in Gaza, saying, “There are people there who are not worthy of life. They shouldn’t live. They’re not even people.”

Ben-Gvir made the comments to Rom Braslavski – a former Israeli captive held in Gaza as the Israeli regime waged its genocidal war on the territory following the Hamas-led attacks in October 2023 – in a podcast episode that surfaced on Sunday and was widely shared across Palestinian media.

The remarks add to a long record of extreme statements by Ben-Gvir, who is part of prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s coalition government and controls Israel’s police and prison services.
