Death Toll from Israeli Regime’s Genocidal War on Gaza Rises

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Medical sources in Gaza say at least 73,420 Palestinians have been killed and 174,369 wounded since the Israeli regime began its genocidal war on the enclave in October 2023, Wafa reported.

The Palestinian news agency added that since the October “ceasefire” came into effect, at least 1,286 Palestinians have been killed and a further 4,257 wounded.

Meanwhile, for families of Palestinians who have disappeared in Gaza, the search for their loved ones has not ended.

The family of Jalal, a nine-year-old boy with autism, says he disappeared about three months ago.

“At around 4pm on the day Jalal went missing, I was at work when my wife called. She sounded frantic and said, ‘Jalal is missing’,” his father said.

His parents fear that he may have wandered toward an area occupied by the Israeli military, where they say searching for him would be dangerous.

“It has been 90 days and I refuse to accept condolences as long as I have not seen his body,” his father said.

The International Committee of the Red Cross meets families every week to help them search for information.

“We don’t always have answers for them about their missing loved ones. We haven’t been able to access detainees in Israeli detention centres since October 2023,” an ICRC representative said.

After years of war and destruction, tracing missing Palestinians remains difficult, with records potentially destroyed, information fragmented and families often left with little more than a last known location.

For these families, the absence of answers leaves them trapped between hope and grief.
