Qalibaf Fires Back at US Economic Claims

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf hit back at US attempts to portray Iran as facing an economic crisis, highlighting food insecurity in the US and denouncing Washington for trying to conceal its own failures with false claims.

In a post on his X account on Monday, Qalibaf shared a graphic under the headline “MAKE AMERICA HUNGRY AGAIN!”, turning US President Donald Trump’s economic rhetoric against Washington.

The graphic cited figures indicating that 47 million Americans face hunger every day, with one in eight Americans struggling with hunger and 16 million US children going hungry. It also stated that food insecurity exists in every US county.

“You can’t cover up defeats with false claims,” Qalibaf wrote, adding that the figures presented in the graphic were “not fake like your words.”

Qalibaf’s message comes amid an escalating US campaign of economic pressure against Iran. Washington has threatened what it describes as an unprecedented economic offensive, while Iranian officials have rejected the US narrative and condemned the Trump administration for using economic pressure after failing to achieve its objectives through military means.
