In a statement, Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the Israeli regime’s targeting of UNRWA facilities as “systematic” and aimed at depriving millions of Palestinians in Gaza, the occupied West Bank, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon of essential services.
The ministry called on the international community to take immediate action to protect UNRWA.
Israeli regime forces raided the Qalandiya Training Centre on Tuesday in the Kafr Aqab neighborhood of occupied East al-Quds.
The facility is vital to UNRWA’s operations in Palestine.
The Israeli regime ordered staff to leave after seizing the site and said it would shut down the facility.
Far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir was present during the raid.
The Israeli regime has accused UNRWA of harboring members of Hamas who took part in the October 7, 2023 attacks.
The International Court of Justice (ICJ) has said Israel has not substantiated these allegations.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian resistance group Hamas condemned Tuesday’s raid and seizure of the UNRWA vocational training facilities in Qalandiya, north of occupied East al-Quds, by Israeli regime forces led by far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir.
Hamas said the takeover of the Qalandiya Training Centre, the detention and interrogation of its staff, and the raising of the Israeli flag in its courtyard “represent a blatant act of aggression” against the Palestinian people and their rights and “a dangerous step by the terrorist occupation government to target UNRWA”.
Hamas added that the fact that the attack came a day after 28 diplomatic missions accredited to the State of Palestine visited the centre “confirms the criminal nature of the occupation and its leaders, and their flagrant defiance of the international community and UN resolutions”.
Hamas called on the international community and UN institutions to take measures to counter the Israeli regime’s plans to target UNRWA and to protect the agency responsible for providing relief to the Palestinian people.
