Iran Preparing Power Grid for Winter

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran is preparing its electricity network for the coming winter by expanding renewable energy capacity and developing smart-grid infrastructure, the head of the Iran Power Generation, Distribution and Transmission Company (Tavanir) said.

Mohammad Allahdad pointed to plans to remove restrictions on gas supplies to power plants and repair damages inflicted on energy infrastructure during the US-Israeli war of aggression.

He said the electricity industry is seriously pursuing measures in two areas: power generation and grid development.

The expansion of renewable energy can play an effective role in supplying electricity during the winter, particularly given restrictions on gas supplies to power plants, the official added.

Allahdad noted that the development of substations as well as transmission, sub-transmission and distribution lines is also on the agenda.

Despite the suspension or slowdown of some projects in areas affected by the war, he said, the projects were pursued more vigorously after the war, with significant progress achieved in power generation and consumption sectors.
