In a statement issued in response to the US president’s remarks, the General Staff said Trump’s repeated hostile statements and threats against Iran, which it said were accompanied by an attempt to use the UN platform to justify aggression, create insecurity and engage in “banditry” around the world, are primarily aimed at domestic propaganda rather than being based on realities on the ground.
“Such remarks are indicative of America’s strategic deadlock in its aggression against the Iranian nation,” the statement said.
The General Staff added that the repetition of baseless claims and threats, in view of the “attrition” of the US military, should not be interpreted as a sign of strength but rather as evidence of Washington’s strategic desperation.
The statement said the Islamic Republic of Iran has always been an “anchor of security” in the region, particularly for free and international trade. By contrast, it lashed out at the US for being a source of threat, insecurity and instability through its “illegitimate, illegal and aggressive” presence in West Asia.
It further denounced Washington for holding the global economy “hostage” in an effort to compensate for repeated failures in aggressive actions against Iran and maritime “banditry.”
The US president’s rhetoric would not alter the balance of power and would never compensate for the US’ “declining position in the new world order” or its “humiliating defeats” in the war against Iran and the resistance front, the statement added.
The General Staff then warned of a forceful response from Iran’s Armed Forces, saying they have drawn on the experience of the eight-year Sacred Defense as well as the “second and third imposed wars.”
It said Iran’s Armed Forces are fully prepared to deliver “more severe, more crushing and unpredictable blows” against the aggressors and the leaders of the US and Israeli regime in response to the threats and “ravings” of the killer of martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, innocent children and the oppressed victims of an elementary school in Minab and Lamerd, as well as other martyrs of the country.
The statement concluded by expressing hope that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian would convey to the world at the United Nations the message of the “brave Iranian nation” and the “heroic Armed Forces” as well as the power of a strong and invincible Iran.
