The special units are representing Iran’s Armed Forces at the “Eurasia-Anti-Terror 2026” exercise, which is being hosted by Minsk as part of efforts to strengthen defense diplomacy and cooperation against violent extremist groups in the region.
Brigadier General Vali Madani, deputy commander for operations of the IRGC Ground Force, said the exercise focuses on strengthening coordination among Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states to counter extremist activities and contain violent groups regarded as a common threat to regional security.
He said the three-day exercise is being held in the Belarusian capital with the participation of 14 member states and affiliated committees of the SCO, as well as more than 100 senior military and security officials.
General Madani described the enhancement of security and counterterrorism cooperation as Iran’s main strategic objective in the exercise, stressing the importance of exchanging experiences in confronting emerging security threats.
Last year, the IRGC Ground Force hosted the SCO anti-terrorism exercise in Shabestar area of northwestern Iran, serving as the fourth country to host the drill.
