Iran ‘Impatient’ to Sink US Warships: IRGC Navy Chief

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy Commander Rear Admiral Ali Ozmaei said Iran is “counting the moments” until it can sink US warships, challenging American forces to approach the Strait of Hormuz if they believe the strategic waterway is open.

In his first televised interview, Ozmaei said, “If the Americans think the Strait of Hormuz is open, let them come closer. We are impatient to sink American warships.”

The IRGC Navy commander said a US warship worth $13 billion had been rendered ineffective and had moved 700 kilometers away from the Strait of Hormuz because it did not dare approach the waterway.

“We are waiting for US warships to approach the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz so we can sink them. We are counting down every moment until this happens,” he added.

Ozmaei also said the US and its regional partners have imposed a “media blackout” to prevent people around the world from learning that vessels violating the rules are being punished.

He said the IRGC Navy has therefore released footage of two cases in which vessels that violated the rules were punished.
